about me
I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. As a child, books were my quietest companions, but somewhere in the rush of growing up, that connection faded. It wasn’t until adulthood that I rediscovered reading; not just as a hobby, but as a necessary escape.
Coming back to books as an adult, my taste shifted. My favourite stories are typically historical fiction, particularly a well-written multi-generational story that explores history across the globe. I find myself gravitating toward stories from diverse characters and authors that expand my world view and open my eyes to different ways of living. Although I’m always down for some cheeky speculative fiction or a thriller.
After looking for some time, I realised I couldn’t find “third spaces” for book lovers locally. I wanted a place where the conversation didn’t end when the book was closed, but there was nowhere locally to go in South East London
Welcome to Written in Colour. I created this space for readers who want to move past the blurb and get into the heart of a story. Based in South East London, I’m dedicated to centering global voices and holding space for the kind of honest, unfiltered dialogue that books deserve.
Whether I’m reviewing a heavy-hitting debut or hosting our local book club, I’m looking for the layers—the culture, the controversy, and the craft. This isn’t just about what I’m reading; it’s about the conversations we have after the final page is turned.
