“We are made of the things we cannot forget.”
Join us to discuss What Storm, What Thunder by Myriam J.A. Chancy, our #ReadCaribbean pick for June. This novel follows ten people whose lives are forever changed by the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. We will talk about survival, community, and the slow process of rebuilding when everything feels broken.
Date: Wednesday 24th June 2026
Time: Doors open at 6:00 PM; discussion starts at 6:30 PM
Location: SE London (Specific venue TBC)
Entry: £10 (Includes a personal food box with light bites)
This gathering is a space to talk about the reality of the characters’ lives and how they find the strength to keep going. Whether you have finished the book, are halfway through, or haven’t started it yet, you are welcome to join the conversation.
What to expect:
Guided Discussion: A relaxed but focused talk about the story, its cultural layers, and the lives of the ten people featured in the book.
Food: Your ticket price includes a selection of delicious snacks to enjoy during the evening.
Atmosphere: A cosy, chilled, and chatty environment designed to make everyone feel at home.
Community: A chance to meet neighbours and fellow readers in a meaningful way.
Tickets are £10. Written In Colour is a grassroots project, and all funds go directly towards running the club and future events.
It is important to us that these conversations stay accessible. If the ticket price is a barrier for you, please contact us directly so we can make sure you are able to attend.
Whether you are a lifelong reader or just looking for a new space to connect, your seat is at the table.
